A very busy day

Yesterday morning I felt great, but it didn't last for long and I soon felt exhausted again. I managed to do a little bit of revision last night for my environmental systems exams this morning. I had a bad night last night though, as I couldn't get off to sleep for a couple of hours. I think it was becuase I was nervous about today's exams. I fell asleep eventually, but didn't have as much sleep last night as I would have liked.

This morning I had 2 environmental systems exams. The first one lasted 45mins and consisted of 30 multiple choice questions. The second exam lasted for 1hr and 15mins and consisted of short answer questions and an essay question (for which I had a choice of 3). Both exams went well as I find environmental systems an easy subject because it seems that most of it is just common sense!

I take environmental systems and biology, which apparently is an unusual subject combination, as there is some overlap between the two syllabuses. So the International Baccalaureate Organisation scheduled the exams at the same time, which meant my exam timetable said I was to sit 5hrs and 15mins of exams this afternoon. I realised this a few weeks ago though, so the deputy head of sixth form rescheduled 2 exams (the environmental systems ones) to this morning. However, this meant that I sat those papers before the rest of my class, so I had to be kept in solitary confinement over lunch, so I couldn't tell anyone else what was in the exams. Between my morning and afternoon exams I had just less than 2hrs which I had to spend in a room just outside the exams office on my own. I ate my lunch and skim read my entire biology revision guide in the hope that something would sink in before my afternoon biology exams. Biology was the subject I'd not managed to do any revision for in the weeks before the exams, but I wasn't too worried as I know I can resit in November if neccessary.

Eventually I was released from solitary confinement to attend the biology exams. There were 2 exams again. The first one was 1hr long and consisted of 40 multiple choice questions. I don't find multiple choice exams too hard as you can usually make an educated guess, but this one was difficult. Even my friends who'd done much more revision than me found it hard. I guessed quite a few answers, as I had no idea, so finished a bit early, but spent my spare time graffiti-ing my rubber ;) The second paper lasted 2hrs 15mins and consisted of some data handling and short answer questions and 2 essay questions (out of a choice of 4). The data handling questions were fine and the short answer questions weren't too bad, but the essay questions were a bit of a disaster! All 4 possibly essay questions were split into 3 parts, so I worked out which I might be able to do better at and attempted them. Some things I knew, some things I made an educated guess at and some I made up, lol!

So my first 2 biology exams weren't great, but I wont really know how I did until I get the results. But I can always resit in November if I want/need to. I'm just relieved they're over now :)

Tomorrow I have my final biology paper and my final environmental systems paper. They were both scheduled for the morning, but I was ok with that as they only total 2hrs 15mins. But the environmental systems exam has been rescheduled to the afternoon for me (which I didn't ask for!) so I'll have to spend lunch tomorrow in solitary confinement again, but it'll be for longer than today, around 2hrs 30mins. Never mind, I'll take some revision, a book and my DSi ;)

  1. I'm glad the exams, on the whole, weren't too bad. I had to do the whole solitary confinement thing last year, when a German exam was scheduled at the same time as an RE exam, and so had to be put earlier. Luckily my two best friends were in confinement with me.

Thanks for your kind words on my blog :)I hope your exams are okay tomorrow, I'm sure they will ne :) I have a week until my next real exam, so hopefully enough time to pack some revision in!
