Saturday at the Safari Park

Last Saturday I went to a local safari park with my mum, dad and Alf. I went a few times when I was younger, but this we'd not been for a while before Saturday. We had a lovely day despite some difficulties with the journey there and back! We had to make quite an early start (woke at 8am, left the house at 9am) to try to get there about 10am when it opened. On the way there the main road we'd intended to travel on was shut due to road works, so we had to take a detour. The journey took us an hour which wasn't too much longer than we'd expected. And on the way back our very reliable satnav didn't work properly and kept saying that we were in the middle of a field, lol! We managed to find our way home though.

We all really enjoyed the day and got on with each other really well :D Alf loves animals, so was in his element (see the photo of him with the lemur below). There were 2 safari routes, one that you went round in the car and then another area that you covered on foot. We did the car route first, then the on foot bit, then the car route again and then we visited a deer park before coming home :) And we had a lovely picnic lunch in there somewhere too. So it was quite a busy day. I wasn't too tired though and only had to have a few sit downs.

Last Saturday was Chris' girlfriend Sophie's birthday and to celebrate they went to the safari park too. They had no idea that we were going and we only found out the night before! So we met up with them while we were there which was nice.

I took about 220 photos in total while we were out and only stopped when my camera battery went flat! I'm not going to show you 200 photos though, just some of my favourite ones.

These photos are from the car route:

These photos are from the on-foot section:

And I took this photo at the deer park (I would have taken more, but my camera battery died):
