Over the last couple of days there has been a story in the news about a woman who received lungs from a donor who had smoked and then she died a few months later. You can see this story on the BBC news website here. My friend Emily has written a brilliant blog post in response to this story which you can read here. It's well worth a read.
Tor was on the radio today talking about that story too. You can listen online here. The talk about organ donation is at 1 hour 10mins in and Tor speaks from 1 hour 13mins in.

ReplyDelete"cheers everyone, and Moll I agree with you in terms of recovery, and appreciate your comment. I guess I meant in terms of fitness, generally other organs fitness levels are returned to normal (if no other setbacks). That is why heart & lungs have their own games for this reason. Also, now - kidneys have their own games too (incl kidney dialysis) So, competing gets fairer" hope that makes sense now - what i meant?, and it is good to learn of other transplant too xx
That's ok, I was going to check back on your blog anyway Justine. Will leave my response to your response (hehe) over on your blog.
