As I mentioned in a previous blog post, I went to see 'Seven Pounds' at the cinema last weekend, but didn't think it was very well put together. On a transplant message board I use someone recommended I watch '21 grams' as they thought it was a much better film about organ donation. So I borrowed '21 grams' from the library and watched it last night. After watching about half of it I was very impressed and was struggling to fault it. However the second half was a complete contrast and very disappointing: it was really dramatic and I'd liken it to something from a soap! In the second half I found out that someone was having an affair, someone was pregnant and taking drugs, there was a plot to kill someone and then someone tried to commit suicide! I got quite frustrated with it as it had looked so promising from the first half.
I wonder if there have been any well made films about organ donation, as the 2 I've seen were both very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend either of them.

I'm not sure about films, but have you read 'Thanks for the memories' by Cecilia Ahearne? It's a bout blood transfusion...not necessarily a true-to-life story, but I thought it was quite a good read - you may enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI've heard of it Becky, but not read it. It sounds interesting, so I'll try to find a copy of it and I'll let you know what I think.
