Japan part 4

One day we went out for the day on the train to a park called Nara.

Me and Abi on the train on the way there:
Note how many layers we're wearing. The weather on the previous two days had been much like England in February, so we definitely needed our coats. However, this day we had a heatwave! Walking through the town on the way to the park (a walk of over a mile) our layers all came off, but we were still hot. There was no shade to be found anywhere! I have to be careful in the sun because the steroids and anti-rejection tablets I'm on mean I'm more prone to developing skin cancer, but of course my sun cream was back at the accommodation. I bought some while we were out, but we needed Miss I's help in working out what it was called in Japanese! The Japanese weather was so unpredictable, just like English weather I suppose. The day after this heatwave we all went out wearing very few layers and then it snowed!

Nara Park had a big population of very tame deer:

And decorative buildings and temples too:

We could enter the temple in the photo above, but I didn't get many good photos of the contents due to bad lighting. But this is the kind of thing we saw inside:

And a staircase that appeared to lead nowhere!

While in Japan we also got the chance to wander round a typical Japanese market called Nishiki Market.
It was fascinating with so many different types of food (most of which we had no idea what they were!)
And there was lots of fish for sale too:
In the market there was also a flower shop:
And a sweet shop:
To be continued...
