Lots of shopping, seeing a friend and a success with tape

Since my last update I seem to have spent quite a lot of money. I like shopping, but for DVDs, CDs and computer games, not clothes! And with Internet shopping so quick and easy and I tend to buy a lot online. Since my last update I have bought 3 DVDs (Sister Act, The Corpse Bride and Edward Scissorhands) online, but they were in HMV's DVD sale, so were only £2.99 each. I have also used the Internet to preorder 2 DS games (Professor Layton and the Curious Village, which will be released on September 25th, and Scribblenauts, which will be released on October 9th) from GAME, as well as a Wii game (Wii Fit Plus, which will be released on October 30th), which I wasn't intending to buy until I saw it very reduced at Zavvi.

And then I went into the city yesterday where I bought some more orthodontic wax for my braces, a music DVD for my dad for Christmas and a fantastic t-shirt. My new t-shirt has a black background and a realistic wolf head on the front and back. It cost more than I'd usually pay for a t-shirt (£17), but I love it :D And I preordered Mika's second album, 'The Boy Who Knew Too Much', from HMV. It will be released on September 21st and I'm very excited as I'm a big fan of Mika. It's frustrating though that I'll have to travel more than 20miles into the city to get a copy on release day, as there are no music shops nearer and none of the online shops suggest that I'll get it delivered on release day. Never mind, I have a hygeinist appointment on the 21st anyway, and that's on the outskirts of the city, so we won't have to go too much out of our way to pick it up.

It was great to see my friend H in the city yesterday, we get on really well and it was a while since we'd seen each other, so we had loads to talk about. I was out the house from 10.30am til 5pm yesterday, so it was a long and tiring day for me, but I enjoyed it :D And the final thing I've bought since my last update is my Christmas cards! I sent off the order form a cheque yesterday morning. I always buy charity Christmas cards, so this year I've bought AYME ones.

I've not been feeling too bad this week, as I haven't been as tired as usual, despite still being very nocturnal. I'm hoping the Melatonin will arrive soon, but I suspect it could still be a little while because of the local post strikes. And I've been feeling surprisingly cheerful and optimistic :D I've found a better tape to use to secure my tube in place overnight too, so my cheek is no longer red and sore :) It comes off very easily in the mornings which is great, but the downside of this is that it sometimes falls off in the night! I'll keep persevering though as it seems to have been staying on better during the night after a bad first night. And my mouth is feeling better too, but is still a bit sore.

To get a little bit of exercise on Wednesday me and mum walked round the village and called in at the library to see if any of the audio books I'd requested had arrived. And they had :D So I've been listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in my rests since then. I've found that after listening for about 20mins of my 30min rest, I begin to lose concentration and so miss bits of the narration. So I was planning to shorten my breaks to 20mins, but today I was fine listening for 30mins, so I'm just going to see how it goes.

I've watched a couple of films over the last couple of days. Spy Kids 3D came from my Tesco rental list, but frustratingly there were no 3D glasses enclosed, so the DVD was unwatchable! Grrr. So I sent it back with a note explaining the problem. I received an email the following day asking if I'd like to request another copy, but I suspected that I might have the same problem again, so have requested the 2D version instead. I also received While You Were Sleeping from my rental list. I think Sandra Bullock is great, so am watching a lot of her films at the moment. I was surprised at how good While You Were Sleeping Was, because although the plot was quite predictable the acting was great and the film was very funny. I'd highly recommend it and am sure I'll watch it again. Today I watched an interesting film called Grizzly Man that I recorded from the TV last night. It was very odd and told the story of a man who lived with grizzly bears in the wild every summer for 13 years. It was strangely compelling though.

I've also watched a few interesting things on TV too. A little while ago I noticed that my favourite Doctor Who episodes (The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances) were being repeated on BBC 3, so I recorded them. I watched them last night with mum and they were just as good (and scary) as I remembered them to be. Today I was flicking through the TV mucis channels when I saw The Killers live at V Festival 2009, so watched that. I really like The Killers' music and think they look amazing when I've seen them live on TV. I really want to see them in concert now :D

I have also started a novel for the first time in a little while. It's called While My Sister Sleeps and is by Barbara Delinsky. A friend mentioned that she'd read it and enjoyed it and I saw on the Internet that it was being compared to Jodi Picoult books (I love My Sister's Keeper), so thought I'd give it a try. I read quite a bit when I sat down and started it, but haven't picked it up again since. My concentration isn't very good at the moment, but I'm going to try and persevere with the book, so will let you know what I think when I've read a bit more or finished it.

This evening I had a fiddle with my Wii console to try to get it online properly. In the past I've been able to access the Internet from the main console and have been able to use the Wii channels that need the Internet, but have been unable to get any of my games online. So tonight I tried it and discovered I couldn't get on the Internet at all from my Wii, so reset all the connection settings and was delighted to find it works! So I've been playing Mario Kart Wii against other people on the Internet :D I thought I was quite good at Mario Kart, because I always beat any family members or friends that I play against, but everyone I raced against online was a lot better than me, so I need to get practising! And I also need to work out how I can race against specific friends who also have a Wii and Mario Kart. But that's quite exciting :D

My younger brother, Alfie, started sixth form last Friday and is enjoying it so far. He's never liked school before, so I'm hoping that sixth form will continue to go well. Not sure he'll be so happy though when the coursework starts piling on! He's not sure about his subject choices as at the moment he thinks he'd like to be a vet, but he's not doing chemistry. So he says he's going to see about changing it next week, but I'm not sure if he'll actually get round to it. Never mind, he seems happy enough.

Last week I had Friday night off my feeds, but this week I've decided to go on my feed tonight so I don't run the risk of not feeling great tomorrow due to dehydration, and I'll have tomorrow night off my feed instead. I'm hoping I'll sleep ok tonight because it's my birthday tomorrow. I'm really excited, lol, makes me feel like a kid again getting so excited about my birthday! Will try to blog again on Sunday or Monday to let you know how it went.

My friend Claire is going to come round at about 11am tomorrow morning and together with mum we're going to watch DVDs, but we'll decide which ones tomorrow. At some point in the afternoon me and Claire will pop to visit my nan as she lives locally, but her and Claire have never met before. And then in the evening dad is going to do a BBQ - yummy! On Sunday morning I'm hoping to browse round the local carboot sale if I feel up to it and at some point my older brother Chris and his girlfriend Sophie will pop round.

I'd like to say a huge congratulations to Live Life Then Give Life for winning Best New Charity 2009 at the Charity Times Awards on Wednesday. You can see Live Life Then Give Life's blog about the win here.
