Sunday

I felt quite tired this morning after such a busy day yesterday and woke up with a very sore mouth again. I thought it had healed, but my brace or a sharp tooth cut my mouth again in the night :( So I'm going to try to get an emergency orthodontist appointment this week. Even though I wasn't feeling great this morning I still decided to go out to browse round our local weekly carboot sale. It was very windy and I was freezing!! But I began to warm up as I went round. I spent £16 at the carboot sale this morning, but got loads for it! I got a copy of the book My Sister's Keeper (as I've lent my copy to my nan), a gamecube game to play on my Wii, 2 audio books (only £2.50 each - bargain!) and the Ashes to Ashes soundtrack CD. I also bought 4 DVDs for myself (Love Actually, There's Something About Mary, Drowning Mona and The Pursuit of Happyness), a music DVD and a comedy DVD for my mum for Christmas and a comedy DVD for my dad for Christmas or his birthday.

I felt very tired when we got home, so had a quick lunch and then a 30min rest. After listening to my Harry Potter audio book for 20mins I began struggling to concentrate and so kept missing bits of the narration. So I turned it off and planned to just lay there for 10 more mins, but I nodded off. Whoops!

This afternoon I caught up on some emails, spoke to some friends on Facebook and set my new digital photo frame up. Then my older brother Chris and his girlfriend Sophie came round. On Friday they returned from a holiday to Mallorca. It was nice to hear all about their holiday, though I think 250 photos might have been a bit excessive! And they brought me back a couple of things for birthday presents. I received a Mallorca fan:

A lovely shell box:

And a pretty pair of earrings:
While Chris and Sophie were round, I helped Alf to set up a Facebook account :D

After tea I spoke to dad about my money because my last 2 bank statements have made me realise that I'm spending a ridiculous amount of money each month. I'm not buying anything very expensive, but I'm just buying lots of little things (DVDs, DS and Wii games, clothes, concert/theatre tickets...) each month. So I'm going to set up a budget sheet in Microsoft Excel this month by adapting one my dad designed and then from October 1st I'm going to use that to keep an eye on my spending. And then hopefully I will be able to come up with a plan to stop me spending so much, as I'd really like to save some money too. I currently get Disability Living Allowance, but am going to contact my local job centre this week to see if I'm entitled to any more benefits because my ME means that I'm not really well enough to work at the moment. I'll let you know how I get on with that. And mum and dad also want me to start paying them rent now that I'm out of full time education.

I watched a bit of TV this evening and am now going to finish off on the computer and then read for a little bit before trying to get an early-ish night.

  2. Hi Molly,

I'm another Emma who's been following your blog for a while. I volunteer for my local citizen's advice bureau and there are loads of information sheets about benefits in different situations on the public CAB website at www.adviceguide.org.uk and theres also a thing to help you find your local bureau. Might be worth a visit if the jobcentre can't help or are confusing. They can also help with form filling. Off the top of my head I wonder if you might be eligible for Employment and Support Allowance. You should also look into whether you are getting the right level of DLA, particularly now you are back on feeds as I think that can be classed as night care needs. Give me a shout if I can give you any more info.

  3. Hi Emma :)

Job Centre Plus were very helpful when I phoned them yesterday and I applied for ESA over the phone. Full blog update coming soon. Am also looking into getting my DLA reviewed as my circumstances have changed since my last DLA review. Thanks for your help, will definitely be in touch if I need any more info about benefits.

    Take care,
    Moll x x

  4. Ahh hun, don't feel too guilty about having fun and feeling good, though its good that you're on top of things and are aware of things that perhaps you want rather than need! I am a shopaholic so I really have no grounds to comment except I know how easy it can be to get in a pickle with it. Fingers crossed your strong application for some financial support will come thru! Loadsa love always xxxxxxxxx
